The photo above captures the effects of a
drum exploding inside the storage vault with the door open. These
tests proved the effectiveness of the PRO-TEC's constructions for
containing flammable liquid spills when drums are exposed to an internal
fire as well as containment of debris from any resulting explosion.

Freeze-Thaw:
Affording environmental protection through spill
control!
The result of this test demonstrated that the stress of expansion and
contraction caused by extreme cold and thawing are not an issue with
PRO-TEC. The sump area maintained its structural integrity confirming
protection from leakage under severe weather conditions.
Hydrostatic:
Affording confidence in the spill control!
This test verifies that after many potentially catastrophic events,
PRO-TEC remains liquid tight. The result confirms protection to both the
emergency respondents from an extremely dangerous pool fire scenario and
the environment from the impact of structural failure.
Vandalism
Protection:
Affording security!
Ensuring the security of the storage vault, this test confirmed that
products contained in a PRO-TEC are not accessible to unauthorized
persons.
Interior
Pool Fire:
Affording emergency response time
and safety to emergency response teams!
After being subjected to an explosion test, PRO-TEC proved that a 30
minute interior pool fire test was not able to breach the structural
integrity of either the sump or wall assembly. This demonstrates the
safety afforded to the fire response personnel during fire fighting
activities.
Hose Stream:
Affording
protection and structural integrity during fire fighting activities!
Following the second ULC supervised drum explosion test, the exterior of
the vault demonstrated that the impact of a cold hose stream would not
weaken the structural integrity of the storage vault. This confirmed
again the inherent level of safety afforded by the heavy gauge
construction of the vault.
Vapor
Explosion:
Affording sufficient structural and
mechanical integrity!
The PRO-TEC Chemical Storage Facility maintained its structural and
mechanical integrity both during an initial explosion and the resulting
deflagration of vapors and liquids.
Drum
Explosion:
Affording containment and
protection in a BLEVE condition!
By withstanding the catastrophic explosion in three individual tests
where drums contained water, gasoline or heptane, PRO-TEC showed that a
Boiling Liquid Evaporating Vapor Explosion will not jeopardize
structural or mechanical integrity. The results of this test confirmed
that when liquids and projectiles are being ejected from exploding
drums, PRO-TEC gives full protection to the fire service and the
environment!
