Vehicle Dispensing

Project: National Fleet Fueling Systems        Client: U.S. Border Patrol

The United States Border Patrol’s mission is to protect the boundaries of the United States by patrolling 8,000 miles of international boundaries via automobile, boat and aircraft. To refuel their fleet the U.S. Border Patrol. required vehicle fueling systems throughout the country.

To date, Core Engineered Solutions has furnished the Border Patrol with turnkey fueling systems at more than 50 sites throughout the country. This included design, production, installation, start-up and training. Electronic fuel management systems were installed at all sites for security and accountability. The fuel management systems are linked to a site PC and have capabilities for remote monitoring via modem.

Our GSA contract was a major selling point because it allowed the Border Patrol to bypass the lengthy government bidding process. We were also able to offer outstanding service, coast-to-coast, with one point of contact. In addition, our pre-engineered fueling systems provided the U.S. Boarder Patrol with standardized equipment throughout the country.

Project: Integrated Fleet Fueling System        Client: Avis

Avis Car Rental is one of the world’s leading providers of automotive transportation with a fleet of over 1 million vehicles. To supply these vehicles Avis required expanded fueling capabilities at locations in Indiana, Minnesota, and Texas. Avis was also concerned with reducing liability factors with the new fueling systems.

Core provided Avis with integrated systems on a fast track basis, which included dispensing, storage and tank monitoring equipment. The pre-engineered systems included safe filling equipment, submersible pumps, and electronic dispensers--furnished complete to the site to minimize installation costs. The systems afforded Avis standard equipment design throughout the country and Core Engineered Solutions was able to meet local codes at each site. Our fire rated above ground Convault tank exceeded the requirements of all local fire authorities.

The turnkey solutions gave Avis an efficient and cost effective answer to their fueling requirements and put Avis in compliance with both state and federal regulations. In the process, Avis was able to reduce its exposure to environmental liabilities.

Emergency Power

Project: Fuel Storage/Enclosures for Switching Stations        Client: KMC Telecom

KMC Telcom had an aggressive schedule to install switching stations at Midwest and Southeast locations. Core designed an aboveground fire rated tank system that was acceptable to the State and local code authorities. Oldcastle buildings were installed to protect KMC's sensitive equipment.  The diesel fuel system provided significant time and cost advantages to natural gas powered generators. The system soon replaced natural gas as the fuel supply solution for all sites, saving KMC approximately $60,000 per site.  Core expedited delivery of the systems by pre-installing fuel level / leak detection monitors in pre-fabricated equipment enclosures.

Project: Emergency Power Fuel Systems        Client: MCI Worldcom

Core Engineered Solutions provided fueling systems for emergency power at 12 locations throughout the U.S.   Our integrated systems solution included design, production, installation, start-up, training and obtaining all permits.  Installations at each site included:  fire rated aboveground fuel tanks, duplex pump sets/controls, tank manifold controls, tank level controls, filtration pump sets/controls, tank filling equipment, tank monitoring equipment and an integrated control panel.  Our fast-track process and national capabilities resulted in simultaneous start-ups at multiple sites.

Fuel Management Systems

Project: Fuel Dispensing/Management Systems        Client: Alliant

Alliant initiated a program of building new distribution facilities to better serve its customers. The facilities required fuel dispensing and management systems to maximize the efficiency of its delivery fleet. The warehouse facilities were executed as design - build contracts.  Core Engineered Solutions, Inc. furnished standardized aboveground fuel systems at facilities in Indiana, New York, and New Jersey.

Project: Fuel Dispensing/Management Systems       Client: VA National Cemetery

Core was asked to design, procure and install a new fuel dispensing and management system for the V.A. National Cemetery in Beverly, NJ. The site had underground and aboveground tanks. The project also included UST removal, contaminated soil testing and a new fuel management system. The fuel management system has allowed the V.A. National Cemetery to run more efficiently by accurately tracking fuel usage.

Throughout the country, Core worked with the V.A. National Cemetery to upgrade each facility. This included providing the Veterans Administration with a standardized system configuration. Each system consisted of a split tank for gasoline and diesel dispensing and a fuel management system.  Several sites also required a used oil tank. Core's GSA contract was a major selling point as it allowed the National Cemetery to bypass the lengthy and expensive government bidding process. The integration of the design and procurement process decreased the overall costs and project time schedule for the Veterans Administration.
