Mission Critical Fueling
Core Provides A Truly "Mission Critical" System for Lahey Medical Center.
Lahey
Clinic Medical Center in Burlington encompasses an ambulatory care
center serving more than 3,000 patients each day, a 293-bed hospital
and a 24-hour emergency department. The term "mission critical" is
often used to describe emergency power systems. For Lahey Clinic a
loss of power can literally cause a life threatening situation for
hundreds of patients. To guard against this, Lahey called on Core
Engineered Solutions to provide a safe and secure emergency power
fueling system.
Core supplied a system which featured redundant elements
including piping and pump sets to assure reliability and
uninterrupted service. The fuel tank for the system was a 3000
Gallon ConVault UL 2085 fire rated fuel tank. ConVault’s seamless
six-inch concrete vault design offers maximum protection against
fire, natural disasters and vehicle or projectile impact. The system
featured double wall steel piping and a 100 Gallon Day Tank with
ball valve, overfill protection and Ultra Sonic transmitter for
leaks, level readings and a return pump.
Core also installed a state-of-the-art self commissioning Control
Panel to run the entire system. The unique design allowed the entire
system to be self commissioned by a single technician within 2 hours
saving time and money over a typical manual commissioning. The
system can be recommissioned at any time without shutting down the
entire system. Core's full service capability gave Lahey a
single-source of responsibility for design, procurement and
installation and training for this complex system.
