I Vapor Recovery, how do I comply?
Many areas around the nation now
require annual testing for stage I vapor recovery
systems installed on aboveground storage tanks. California, New
York and Massachusetts all are among the states that now have
laws that mandate testing. Many other states are
considering adopting these same mandates. Compliance with these
tests requires at a minimum the use of a 3/8 W.C. pressure
vacuum vent cap. This vent cap contains an internal
pressure valve set at 3" water column and a vacuum setting that
does not exceed an 8" water column. The cap assures even
pressure in your AST during filling and/or pumping. You
can identify this cap by looking for a yellow band around the
vent cap with the numbers 3/8 on it. Mandatory testing in
certain areas of Mass, NY and California ranges from annually to
once every five years. Contact your local Fire Marshall
